Action Alert
Oppose the National Emergency
The President has just declared a national emergency to circumvent Congress and the U.S. Constitution, in order to proceed with plans to build a border wall. The only crisis at our southern border is the humanitarian crisis manufactured by this administration. The current administration has separated children from their families, undermined child and asylum protections, and fueled the militarization of border communities. Instead of focusing on real immediate threats to our communities, this administration wrongfully threatens our democracy, expands family separation, and militarizes our neighborhoods. As people of faith and conscience, we must urge our national leaders to oppose this immoral and unconstitutional national emergency declaration today!

I am writing as your constituent and as a person of faith. I am relieved that Congress reached a deal to keep the government open and a I strongly oppose the President's unconstitutional declaration of a national emergency.
I call on you to oppose the President's declaration, which undermines our democracy, subverts the separation of powers, and fuels a harmful border wall.
This declaration further militarizes border communities and fuels unjust family separation.
The only crisis at the souther border is the humanitarian and moral crisis manufactured by this Administration.
I urge you strongly to oppose this national emergency declaration and support proposals to terminate it.
I call on you to affirm the right of all people to seek protection; stop the administration from separating families and returning people to harm; and cut funding that tears families apart and hurts vulnerable populations.
My community welcomes and values immigrants, and I urge you to do the same.
