prohibits transport of minor girls across state lines
04/17/2002
House Roll Call No. 96
107th Congress, 2nd Session

Failed: 173-246 (see complete tally)
NRLC supported the Child Custody Protection Act (H.R. 476), sponsored by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fl.), which prohibits the transportation of a minor girl across state lines to obtain an abortion, if this abridges the right of her parents to be involved in her abortion decision under their home-state law, with certain exceptions. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Tx.) offered a gutting motion to exempt an adult sibling, grandparent, minister, rabbi, pastor, priest, or other religious leader. NRLC opposed this motion, which failed, 173-246, Roll Call No. 96, April 17, 2002.
