House Roll Call No. 465
106th Congress, 1st Session

Passed: 254-172 (see complete tally)
Following rejection of the Lofgren "one victim" substitute on the previous roll call, the House passed the NRLC-backed Unborn Victims of Violence Act (H.R. 2436), 254-172, roll call 465, Sept. 30, 1999. The bill was supported by 198 Republicans and 56 Democrats. It was opposed by 21 Republicans, 150 Democrats, and one independent. The Senate did not take up either H.R. 2436 or a companion bill (S. 1673) introduced by Senator Mike DeWine (R-Ohio), due to a threatened filibuster and opposition by the Clinton-Gore Administration.
