Sanchez Amendment
House Roll Call No. 357
107th Congress, 1st Session

Failed: 199-217 (see complete tally)
Current law prohibits the use of U.S. military medical facilities for abortion, except to save the life of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest. During consideration of the Fiscal Year 2002 Defense Authorization bill (H.R. 2586), Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (D-Ca.) offered an amendment to repeal this ban as it applies to overseas military medical facilities. NRLC opposed the amendment, and it failed, 199-217, Roll Call No. 357, September 25, 2001.
