Failed: 156-254 (see complete tally)
On June 22, 2000, the House considered an appropriations bill (H.R. 4690) that contained a provision to extend a longstanding ban on funding of abortions by the federal Bureau of Prisons, except where the life of the mother is endangered or in cases of rape. Pro-abortion Rep. Diana DeGette offered an amendment to strike the pro-life provision. NRLC opposed the DeGette Amendment, which failed, 156-254, roll call 318.
