Ban on abortions in military medical facilities

Senate Roll Call No. 134
106th Congress, 2nd Session

Agreed to: 50-49 (see complete tally)
During consideration of the Fiscal Year 2001 defense authorization bill (S. 2549), Senator Patty Murray (D-Wa.) offered an amendment to repeal the law that prohibits performance of abortions (including privately funded abortions) in U.S. military medical facilities (except to save the life of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest). NRLC supported a motion to table (kill) the Murray Amendment, and this pro-life motion passed 50-49, Vote No. 134, June 20, 2000. Therefore, the pro-life ban was preserved.
