VBCPS Employees Demand a 5% Raise

Dear VBCPS Colleagues--

The Virginia Beach City Public School Board is currently reviewing the Superintendent’s Estimate of Needs (SEON).  The SEON has allocated a 3% pay increase for employees with no increases in health care costs. However, the Composite Index for this year is 2.3%.  Coupled with the mandatory 5% in pay we must pay for the Virginia Retirement System, the proposed raise is simply not enough.

Therefore, the Virginia Beach Education Association (VBEA) is asking Virginia Beach City Public School Board to increase pay for employees by 5%.   It is important we tell School Board members how important a pay raise would mean to us by forwarding this email to School Board members, family members, friends, and colleagues.  This e-mail contains a link that will send a pre-written message to those who make the decision on our raises.  I encourage you to add your story to the e-mail.

Thank you for your support and for all that you do!

Kelly Walker, President, Virginia Beach Education Association
