Take Action Religious Freedom: Oral Arguments TODAY in SCOTUS

March 25, 2014

Every significant issue is now being defined and decided by the courts. Abortion, government-run healthcare, same-sex marriage, pornography, and the censorship of prayer and Christianity in schools have all been unleashed on our society by the courts. No issue today is untouched by rulings in the court system from the lower district courts up to the Supreme Court. (This is why control of the U.S. Senate is of the utmost importance.)

Since 1999, Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund has participated in more than 75 pivotal cases with amicus briefs, helping to win many upset victories. An amicus curiae is a “friend of the court” who enhances the arguments of one side, urging the court to reach a particular result. Most recently, Eagle Forum has submitted an amicus brief on behalf of Hobby Lobby, a private company whose owners (the Green family) are fighting for the right to run their business in accordance with their Christian beliefs.

Today, Tuesday, March 25, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp v. Sebelius. Be sure to check out the SCOTUS blog for live updates.

These cases are critical to the success or failure of the Obama administration’s assault on religious freedom. Because of their Christian values, the owners of both businesses refuse to cover abortion-inducing drugs under the health insurance provided to employees. The Obama administration considers this adherence to religious beliefs unacceptable, and our First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion is at stake.

  1. Please forward this email to your friends and family so that they are up to date on this issue.
  2. Hobby Lobby needs to know that they have the support of millions of Americans. Will you take a moment to email them and say thank you
