NY Take Action: Two new cases of Measles in NYC in June
Peaked at 172 in April, 73 in May, Why eliminate religious exemptions?
Since the the beginning of June there have been two (2) new cases of measles in New York City according to the NYC  Department of Health and Mental hygiene https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/measles... then click on Cases by Date link. Reported cases in NYC peaked in April with 172 cases, followed by 73 in May and 2 so far in June  https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/measles...
Please click on the Take Action link to send this information to your State Senator and Assemblymember and Gov. Cuomo. There are only nine days left in the legislative session. And we want the legislators to attend to real solutions for real problems rather than using a tiny outbreak of a infection regarded a generation ago as a minor childhood inconvenience as a pretext to take away a fundamental human right.
NYC cases have been overwhelmingly concentrated in the Williamsburg and Borough Park neighborhoods accounting for 432 and 90 cases respectively, with 42 other cases reported in the remainder of the city of  8.55 million since the first reported case in September of 2018.
Neither New York City nor Rockland County have released any data showing a link between measles cases and students with religious exemptions from vaccine mandates to attend school.
Despite the lack of any data connecting the measles outbreak and religious exemptions State Senator Brad Hoylman and Assemblymember Jeffrery Dinowitz are pushing ahead in Albany with bills to eliminate the religious exemption from vaccine mandates to attend school.
The lack of a link between measles and religious exemptions led New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to say at a May press conference, “We’ll look at legislation, but I really think the legislation, in terms of what we’re experiencing, doesn’t speak to our reality. Our reality has nothing to do with religious exemptions.” https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/albany/story/2019...
