Requiring all children in families that host foster children to get all vaccines recommended by the vaccine industry (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the American Academy of Pediatrics, etc.), with no provision for religious or secular belief exemptions, is under consideration as a national standard for licensing foster home families by the Administration of Children and Families, a part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Vaccine requirements have always been the preserve of the States not the federal government. And this regulation would be a first step towards national vaccine mandates enforced by the federal government. It sets a dangerous national precedent that threatens exemption rights currently guaranteed by state law. HHS is taking comments from the public on the proposed standard through October 1.

The regulation is an unprecedented violation of our rights:
- The regulation would exclude families that do not vaccinate for religious reasons from participating in public foster care programs which is a violation of those family’s First Amendment rights.
- The proposed action introduces by regulation, not legislation the first federal vaccine mandate, an unprecedented increase in federal authority at the expense of individuals and the States.
- The lack of a religious exemption in a program that receives federal funds through HHS violates federal law.
- The federal government has provided no rational reason why this regulation is either needed or desirable.
This regulation is the proverbial camel’s nose that could establish the federal government’s authority to void our vaccine rights with regulations drafted by bureaucrats, a goal the vaccine industry has not been able to achieve through the legislative process, at least not yet.
